ADED 7650/6 Teaching the Disadvantaged Adult

 

This course is designed to define, survey and analyze the demographics of those who are targeted by various programs as the "disadvantaged" and to explore the unique sociological, psychological, and physiological factors which influence learning and participation in remedial adult education programs.  The course is advantageous for teachers of adult basic education and those in employee education, community agencies, or other educational roles which serve the ‘disadvantaged.

ADED 7640/6 Workforce Education

 

Identification and evaluation of basic skills issues in the workplace.  Strategies for addressing workplace education issues. Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to identify, describe and assess the purpose, goals, learning strategies and policies for a variety of workforce training programs.

ADED 7600/6 Nature of Adult Education

 

The Nature of Adult Education addresses the history and principles of adult education applied to the development and implementation of programs in remedial, occupational, continuing and life-long learning. Topics to be presented will include the history and philosophy of adult education, the nature of the adult learner, curriculum and teaching strategies for adult learners, agencies and programs in adult education and problems and issues facing the field.

ADED 7970 Special Topics - Disability Services

 

This course provides an introduction to disability services in post-secondary institutions. Learners will study history of disability services, legislation, campus accessibility, assessment of the accessibility of a college campus and other topics of interest.

ADED 7920/6 Internship

 

Provides advanced students with supervised internship experiences in a school, college, or other appropriate setting.  Evaluation and analysis of the internship experience. Upon completion of the internship and the course, the participant will create an ePortfolio that documents experiences, accomplishments and reflects learning and application that is accessible to a professional audience.

ADED 7910/6 Practicum

 

Provides experiences relating theory and practice, usually carried on simultaneously. The practicum is designed to provide performance-based experience related to the area of specialization.  Flexibility is allowed to provide input by students to identify meaningful problems/applications with regard to their current and future professional activities.

ADED 7056 Methods of Teaching in Adult Education (online)

 

Methods and techniques of instruction using appropriate instructional materials; planning and evaluation of instruction for adult education programs. Course was revised and updated to allow for use of digital technologies and the asynchronous environment.

ADED 7010/6 Learning Resources in Adult Education Settings 

 

Selecting, developing, utilizing, and evaluating instructional resources and technology for teaching the adult learner.

  • Analyze why Digital Technologies are important for the Adult Learner
